What's in a name?

I could not believe it when I read about 26 -year- old Steven Bolton, the Briton who has changed his name officially to Buzz Lightyear after his favourite Toy Story character. It must be entertaining to work at the UK deed poll service and have to attend to some weird name changes, resulting mainly from fixated fans of cartoon and movie superheroes.
Below is a small sample of other weird name changes that have been witnessed in the United Kingdom. I am quite undecided as to whether these men deserve a pat on the shoulder for daring to take such a brave stand or if they need to be admitted to the nearest loony bin.

Not very long ago, this year, Richard Smith became, "Stormhammer Deathclaw Firebrand."

George Garratt became 'Captain Fantastic Faster Than Superman Spiderman Batman Wolverine The Hulk And The Flash Combined' in 2008.

Stockbroker Chris Brewer is now known as, "Tintin Captain Haddock Confused Brewer."

"Happy Adjustable Spanners," was at one time known as Daniel Westfallen.

David Fearn, not being a man of few words now answers to: "James Dr No From Russia with Love Goldfinger Thunderball You Only Live Twice On Her Majesty's Secret Service Diamonds Are Forever Live and Let Die The Man with the Golden Gun The Spy Who Loved Me Moonraker For Your Eyes Only Octopussy A View to a Kill The Living Daylights Licence to Kill Golden Eye Tomorrow Never Dies The World Is Not Enough Die Another Day Casino Royale Bond"

So what's in a name? I would say lots of imagination, if these examples are anything to go by!

  1. Looney bin for sure! And what were the folks at the deed poll service office thinking by allowing these nimwits to change their names to something so ridiculous?
