Horny? For goodness' sake get a room!

Its a Wednesday afternoon, peak hour and the city centre is abuzz with the hustle and bustle of the populace. Even the city park that is usually associated with lazy Sunday afternoon strolls and relaxation, seems to have a life of its own on this particular day. Those that are seated on the many benches or on the lush green grass, seem to be there for just enough time to have a quick lunch bite before scurrying off. A few are engaged in discussions, but these appear to be academic or business related. Only one couple sticks out like a sore thumb.

Why are they the odd ones out? This man and woman are locked in an intense embrace and are snogging passionately as if there is no tomorrow! Call me unromantic, call me retrogressive or old fashioned, but such heavy displays of affection are totally uncalled for and should be done in private. By all means people need to show each other love, we really need more love in this world. I also accept that love knows little limits or boundaries. That however is not a licence to romp like an animal right in the city centre!

While it is shocking when teenagers make out, after school, in buses, libraries and cafes in full view of gullible, small children and respectable senior citizens, I find it not just shocking but disgusting when adults engage in such behaviour. My final word to those that feel like showing the whole world how horny they are, is: For goodness' sake, get a room!

  1. Yay! Your comment box is finally working. I tried several times last month to leave comments but to no avail.

Heavy snogging in public is rather disrespectful. Most people do not want to watch anyone make out in public and yet when a couple engages in PDA passersby end up witnessing the spectacle.

Steve over at Stephen and Stuff recently wrote about being on a train and having a couple in the adjoining seats "trying to make a baby" for the duration of the very long trip. Too bad the conductor didn't toss them off the train!

There is a very good reason for the saying "get a room"!!
